It also gives us the opportunity to spot issues and trends that wouldn't be apparent with fragmented regional views. Over time, WD has been able to recommend significant changes and simplification to their store development process that have proven highly cost-effective. With a streamlined store development and construction process, the retailer enjoys a shortened construction cycle and reduced store construction costs.

In 2009, WD Partners developed a sustainably designed 4-star Austin Energy Green Build (AEGB) store in Austin Texas. HVAC and system controls design resulted in the store using 19% less energy than if built to the Texas energy code. The store also utilizes an innovative roofing system, reclaimed water, and sensors to adjust daylighting to appropriate levels.
