WD Partners designs new Papa Gino's prototype to spur growth

Papa Gino's has unveiled its new WD Partners'-designed restaurant in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.

Papa Gino's has unveiled its new WD Partners'-designed restaurant in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. The prototype updates the Papa Gino's "look and feel" to increase in-store dining, as well as lay a solid foundation for franchise expansion outside the chain's native New England area. Future plans are to double in size over the next five years through 300 to 400 franchised units.

New restaurants will feature a range of expanded dining room seating with comfortable booths and a warmer, more inviting color palette. Bistro tables and chairs highlight Papa Gino's Italian roots. An expanded counter area gives guests a clear view of the pizza maker, to emphasize the quality and freshness of Papa Gino's food. Whenever possible, locations will feature outdoor patio-seating areas.

In addition, Papa Gino's is also changing the name of the business to Papa Gino's Pizzeria, and will use a new tagline, "The family pizzeria since 1961," to reflect the chain's legacy.

"These changes highlight our pizzeria roots while providing our guests with an updated, inviting atmosphere for dining," said Michael McManama, Senior Vice President of Brand Development for Papa Gino's Pizzeria. "We expect the new Papa Gino's design to add topline revenue as well as attract prospective franchisees."

In 2005, WD Partners designed a very successful prototype for Papa Gino's Holdings' D'Angelo Grilled Sandwiches. The project included operational engineering that resulted in increased efficiency, productivity, and a reduced footprint. Comparable store sales have increased significantly above the 10% expected for a newly remodeled unit.
