Shaking Things Up at Shake Shack

Shake Shack came to us with a clear vision: bring more local flavor to their individual restaurants. In Denver, that meant marrying the RiverNorth neighborhood's artistic DNA with the innovative Shake Shack spirit. Tapping into the vibe and vitality of this proudly art-based community became a great example of culturally relevant localized design.

Bringing the Rockies into the restaurant

The two-story A-frame structure inspired a modern, "urban lodge" design concept; a warm, welcoming, comfortable atmosphere inviting patrons in and compelling them to stay.

The overall design concept, dubbed "Inner Glow", brings in outside elements to celebrate the Rocky Mountain lifestyle.

The front façade's sunshade recalls the familiar wooden snow fences standing ready across the Colorado flatlands.

Flooded with sunlight, the dining room's wood elements radiate an inviting "come in, chill out" vibe.

A distressed wood-formed concrete entry welcomes you into a dining area whose angled wood backdrop echoes the craggy silhouette of the surrounding Rocky Mountains

Large abstract murals like those splashed throughout the neighborhood adorn the restaurant's interior walls, further connecting the RiverNorth essence with the Shake Shack aesthetic.

Our fully integrated design and development expertise drove the entire project from concept to construction, with cohesive collaboration among our design, architectural, and engineering teams.

Shake Shack saw immediate success in the Denver market due to solid concept, design, and execution. Next up: More full-service builds and fit-outs across the country, as well as development of a "parts kit" to aid in consistency and scaling of future builds.
