Safeway wanted to
create a small-format neighborhood market for customers that would encourage
frequent, even daily, shopping. WD Partners collaborated with Safeway’s
Lifestyle group to develop an entirely new brand and customer experience.
The new store attracts customers through its edited product selection,
wine cellar, Signature Café service, and extensive prepared foods.
Outside, The Market’s inviting exterior utilizes natural colors and
materials and combines tasteful displays of seasonal items with outdoor
café seating. Inside, wayfinding was simplified, and a continuous
red soffit and impactful vertical graphics guides shoppers to full service departments (such as wine, meat,
and seafood).
