At Healthspaces 2025, Proactive Care Took Center Stage — From Real Estate to Remote Diagnostics
Estimated Read Time: 2 Minutes
Another great year at HealthSpaces by influence group is in the books for the WD Health + Wellness Practice. We had productive meetings, several Cheers to Health + Wellness, learned from leading minds through innovative speaker sessions, and networked in Deer Valley, Salt Lake City, and Park City over delightful meals and interactive excursions.
Session Highlights and Takeaways Included:
- The importance of evolving and social connection
- Facilities health, real estate management, remodels and new builds, and what’s on the horizon
- AI and ChatGPT
- Healthcare facilities construction innovation and where it intersects with modular construction, digital, and new processes using innovative project management
The common theme through it all? There’s a growing shift from reactive to proactive care both in human healthcare and how we plan and manage facilities. The questions is – how do we get there? The Leader of our Health + Wellness Practice, Dan Stanek, looked to answer this question on the people side in his speaker session on how consumer behavior is reshaping the healthcare landscape and what the movement from reactive to proactive health means across several industries.
Speaker Session in Review: How Consumers Are Changing the Health Landscape
Dan posed the question "Where will your health system be? To evolve from Fix-Me Care to Holisitic Health, can you evolve your consumer experience to marry solid clinical “care” with more preventative 'health' models?"
To further explore these questions, Stanek presented a compelling overview of how consumer behavior is reshaping the healthcare landscape. The talk emphasized the shift from a reactive “sick care” model to a proactive health and wellness mindset. Drawing from data by NielsenIQ and McKinsey, he highlighted that nearly half of global consumers now actively make health-conscious decisions, driven by personal experiences and alternative sources of information—such as influencers and wellness communities—over traditional medical authorities. This shift reflects a broader expectation for personalized, preventative care that extends beyond clinical settings.
He also explored the expanding ecosystem of tools and services fueling this transformation, including early detection diagnostics, continuous health monitoring via wearables, and AI-powered personalization. He noted how lifestyle-focused interventions—from nutrition and fitness to alcohol reduction and longevity practices—are gaining traction, often delivered through new hybrid spaces like wellness clinics and longevity centers.
The session concluded with the message that now is the time for health systems to adapt by integrating traditional clinical care with proactive, consumer-driven wellness solutions to remain relevant in an evolving market.
